RADIO’S TOP TALKERS

Talkers Magazine has released its list of the Top 100 most important radio talk show hosts in America, known as The Heavy Hundred.”  With only 100 seats available, who will be left standing?

Coming in at Number One for the 10th year in a row, it’s Rush Limbaugh.  That’s right, TEN YEARS!  Rush’s fellow Premiere Networks conservative talker Sean Hannity comes in a number two, followed by Dave Ramsey, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, Howard Stern, Michael Savage, Joe Madison, Thom Hartmann and Mike Gallagher.  That’s the same Top 10 as 2015, just with a bit of shuffling in the rankings.

Conservative talk once again dominates Talk Radio, with a bit of news, financial and entertainment mixed in.  It’s not much of a surprise to see politics atop the talk radio genre during an election year.  It’s nearly impossible to carry on a civil conversation about politics among friends, let alone when two “experts” of different minds collide on the radio.  The result is sometimes entertaining, usually confrontational but almost certainly engaging.

SiriusXM placed nine talk show hosts in the Talkers Heavy Hundred, with Stern and Madison representing SXM in the Top 10.  Salem Networks placed six personalities on the list, with Premiere Networks and Westwood One generating five each.  Nationally-syndicated and network personalities dominate the top quadrant of names in The Heavy Hundred, with local talent providing most of the entries beyond that.
